Short Biography
Prof. Junqi Sun was born in Shandong Province, China in 1975. He received his PhD in polymer science in 2001 from Jilin University, under the supervision of Prof. Jiacong Shen and Prof. Xi Zhang. He conducted postdoctoral research at RIKEN, Japan, from January 2002 to August 2003. In September 2003, he joined the faculty of Jilin University as a professor. His current research focus is the fabrication of functional films, which includes the development of novel interfacial assembly methods and the fabrication of free-standing films, self-healing films and films with integrated wetting and optical functionalities. These films are mainly fabricated by layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly technique, which involves the alternate deposition of species with complementary chemical interactions to fabricate composite films. LbL assembly is generally used to fabricate ultrathin polymeric films. However, Sun’s group use the rapid LbL assembly methods for the fabrication of micrometer-thick films, and investigate functions related to their micrometer thickness.
Research Interest
The research of Sun focuses mainly on the fabrication of functional film materials, includes the following: (1) Novel interfacial assembly methods to the fabrication of composite films; (2) Free-standing films; (3) Self-healing coatings; (4) Films with special wetting and optical functionalities.
