Shimei Jiang graduated in the college of chemistry, Jilin University in 1985. She obtained her PhD at Jilin University in 1998. The PhD project was in the field of molecular structural studies on the ferroelectric liquid crystals and some intermolecular hydrogen bonded liquid crystals. She moved for a post-doctoral stay (2001-2003) to the Institute for Spectrochemistry and Applied Spectroscopy, in Dortmund and Macromolecular Chemistry II, at University of Bayreuth, (Germany). This project concerned the synthesis, characterization and modification of block copolymers for the development of the phase behavior of polymer blends. After that she moved back to Jilin University. She has been appointed Full Professor at Jilin University, in 2004. From July 2011 to December 2011, she was a visiting professor with Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn at Institut de Science et d’Ingenierie Supramoleculaires (I.S.I.S), University of Strasbourg, France. This project involved the fabrication of Switched Constitutional Dynamic Networks.
