孙威 博士毕业于多伦多大学化学系,导师是“纳米化学之父“,爱因斯坦奖获得者,加拿大首席材料科学家Geoffrey Ozin 教授。主要研究方向为绿色功能纳米材料领域,如光致发光的硅纳米晶体的合成和研究,二氧化碳还原, 纳米复合材料等,在Nat. Commun., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater.等杂志发表论文10余篇。

报告摘要:

Among the variety of semiconductor quantum dots targeted for applications in optoelectronics, biological imaging and chemical sensing, silicon nanocrystals (ncSi) are drawing increasing attention because of their earth-abundance, low cost, and purported lack of toxicity. To synthesize freestanding ncSi, we employed several methods that could all yield hydride-terminated ncSi and which allow further surface functionalization and chemical reactions. These works provide opportunities for applications of size-selected near infrared emitting ncSi in biomedical imaging, photothermal therapy, and CO2 reduction for the production of chemicals and fuels. Other exciting reactions of ncSi and the synthesis of composites are also being explored.
